Roundtable on “Navigating the Robust and Ethical Adoption of AI in the Indian Judiciary”

At DAKSH, we were glad to partner with UNDP in India and Digital Futures Lab to host a roundtable on “Navigating the Robust and Ethical Adoption of AI in the Indian Judiciary” as a precursor to the India AI Impact Summit 2026. We are grateful to all those who joined the discussion, voiced their concerns and shared valuable perspectives on the responsible use of AI in the Indian justice system.

We also extend our sincere thanks to Hon’ble Mr. Justice B. M. Shyam Prasad, High Court of Karnataka, for his reflections on the growing role of AI in courts and the need to preserve judicial values through human oversight and institutional safeguards, and to Shri Bhoobalan T., IAS, for highlighting the importance of strong governance frameworks to ensure transparent, accountable, and constitutionally aligned AI adoption in public institutions.

The insights shared will inform an ongoing study on ethical AI adoption in the Indian judiciary, which we look forward to sharing soon. We thank UNDP in India for their support and remain committed to advancing people-centred, responsible AI that strengthens access to justice.
