DAKSH is a Bengaluru-based civil society organisation doing transformational work to address deep structural challenges in India’s governance and the justice system. Our research, data tools, and policy insights help uncover systemic challenges and shape real-world improvements in how justice is delivered across the country.

We’re now looking for a Research Associate who is driven by curiosity, rigorous analysis, and a desire to contribute meaningfully to public-interest research. If you want your work to influence policy, empower citizens, and strengthen democratic institutions, this role is an exciting opportunity to do just that.

  • Conduct interviews, field visits and stakeholder consultations.
  • Project coordination, including managing external stakeholders and proactively tracking tasks and project deliverables.
  • Cultivate relationships and build networks with judges, lawyers, government officials, researchers and technology experts.

  • Research and writing on access to justice, the workings of the justice system, technology, data, and the impact of procedural and substantive law on court administration.
  • Engaging in public discourse by publishing articles, blog posts, and op-eds.

Education and Experience Guidelines

Education Qualifications

An undergraduate degree in law is a must.

Core experience

  • At least two years of demonstrable work experience.
  • Minimum one year of litigation experience and good knowledge of the court system.

Competencies

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate tasks, manage timelines, and ensure project timelines are met
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Capability to thrive in dynamic work environments and to adeptly navigate fieldwork requirements with ease
  • Deep passion to make an impact in the field of judicial reforms

Preferable Competencies

Knowledge of Kannada
