Transforming Tribunals

India’s economic future hinges not solely on innovation and investment, but on the strength of the legal frameworks that support them. At DAKSH, we see commercial tribunals not merely as forums for resolving disputes, but as engines of economic justice and powerful drivers of growth.

The vision behind DAKSH’s initiative “Transforming Tribunals”, aimed at strengthening the functioning of India’s key commercial tribunals. Backed by data and driven by collaboration, this project brings experts together to push for real, practical reforms in tribunal functioning, with our research strength at its core.

This landmark initiative builds upon DAKSH’s extensive work on the National Tribunal Commission (NTC), followed by Coalitions for GSTAT and NCLT & NCLAT, expanding its scope to encompass a comprehensive analysis of India’s commercial tribunals.

Why This Matters? And Our Community

At the core of the Transforming Tribunals initiative is a strong and growing community of stakeholders, who are legal practitioners, businesses, in-house counsel, academics, tribunal members, litigants, and policy advocates, who care deeply about strengthening access to commercial justice in India.

Business

Timely dispute resolution reduces legal costs and operational uncertainties.

Legal Practitioners

Efficient tribunals contribute to a more robust and attractive business environment.

Investors

Predictable legal outcomes increase confidence and investment inflows.

Economy

Streamlined processes enhance case management and career progression.

We believe that meaningful reform can only emerge when those most engaged with the system have a voice in shaping its future. Through talks, roundtables, workshops, and surveys, we are building a vibrant space for dialogue, critique, and collaboration.

Whether you’re a lawyer, a researcher or a citizen seeking more accountable public institutions, there’s a place for you in this community. Together, we are surfacing ground-level insights, identifying systemic bottlenecks, and co-creating solutions to ensure that tribunals function efficiently, fairly, and independently.

We invite you to join us, share your experiences, contribute your expertise, and help us reimagine India’s tribunal ecosystem. Here are some who are part of this initiative.
