In simple words, ‘judicial policy’ refers to all those instruments (whether laws, regulations, guidelines, etc) that shape and influence the administration and delivery of justice, and govern the functioning of the judiciary.
Discourse on judicial policy is crucial as it directly impacts the functioning of our justice system, which in turn affects society (Samaaj), government (Sarkaar), and the market (Bazaar). Effective judicial policy ensures that the justice system is fair, efficient, and accessible, thereby upholding the rule of law and protecting one’s rights. By engaging in discourse on judicial policy, stakeholders can identify areas for improvement, promote transparency, and work towards creating a more just and equitable society.

We are excited to announce the launch of a first-of-its-kind program on Judicial Policy and Reforms. Through the program, we wish to start an informed discourse on judicial policy and the need for reforms, through a community of problem-solvers and informed torchbearers to drive transformative reforms and shape the future of our justice system.
This course was a great opportunity for my professional development. It was a much-needed refresher of basic concepts and strengthened my foundational knowledge. What truly made it fulsome and enriching was the opportunity to interact with and learn from professionals outside of the legal field. These interactions provided perspectives I had previously taken for granted, and the experience was genuinely eye-opening.
The Judicial Policy and Reforms Course has been one of the most intellectually stimulating learning experiences I have been part of. What stood out for me was its multidisciplinary approach, which bridges law, governance, and public policy with data in the centre. I walked away with not just conceptual clarity but also a deeper appreciation of the judiciary’s role in advancing justice and social equity in a rapidly changing society.
The course served as a good refresher on the judiciary, judicial powers and judicial policy. The sessions with various experts provided us with a lot of insight from various stakeholders’ perspectives- retired judges, senior advocates, and academicians. I am glad that to be part of the first cohort of this course, it truly was a great experience.
I came into this course with no background in law or the judiciary, so everything was new to me. Daksh made the subject approachable and helped me understand how the Indian judicial system actually functions. The sessions explained the structure, the day-to-day challenges, and the many layers of complexity that shape the system. DAKSH’s approach made a difficult subject easy to engage with, and I’m genuinely glad I took this course.
I joined this programme with very little knowledge of the judicial system, and it turned out to be far more valuable than I expected. The mix of conceptual learning, practical case studies, and discussions with experts, including lawyers, judges, law and enforcement professionals, and the Daksh team helped me understand not only how the system functions but also where the real gaps are and how new ideas can create meaningful change. I am genuinely glad to have been part of this journey.
